Volunteer Handbook

WHY SHOULD I VOLUNTEER?
Parents are a child's first and most important teacher, and parent involvement is closely linked to a academic achievement and self-confidence. Volunteering sends a message to your child that you think school is important and that you want to share this important experience with them.

Volunteering also gives you an opportunity to see our school in action - to see all the wonderful happenings that make such a tremendous impact on your child’s learning experience.

We are very proud of our staff here at Burley Glenwood and welcome you in our efforts to provide the best education possible to our students.

BACKGROUND CHECKS

In compliance with Washington State law, all volunteers must be processed through a Volunteer Application/Background Check. This simple process takes only a few minutes to complete and can be done at our main office. You will need to have PHOTO ID with you when you submit your application. Once approved, your Volunteer Application/Background Check is good for two years. At the end of two years, if you are still an active volunteer at Burley Glenwood, you will need to complete a new application.

GETTING STARTED
Once your Volunteer Application/Background Check has been approved, you’re ready to volunteer – in the classroom, on field trips, and for a variety of other volunteer activities! Be sure to stop at the main office to sign in each time you volunteer or visit our school. Pick up your volunteer, visitor or name badge from the box by the office window and wear it proudly while you are here. Before leaving, please return your badge and sign out.

THANK YOU!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering! If you are a current volunteer, thanks for coming back! We truly appreciate your efforts and look forward to working with you again. If you are new to volunteering at BG, we look forward to meeting you. Welcome to our awesome BG family!
